Successful launch of matchstick rockets!

Last weeks the kids and I attempted to recreate a project we found on The King of Random’s youTube channel, Matchstick Rockets. We watched the video and followed every step meticulously, but our rockets blew up at launch pad repeatedly, frustrating us with each attempt. However, it only fueled our determination to perfect our model.

This week, Danny, Gabi and I restarted our efforts to successfully launch our rockets. After many failed attempts we managed to launch two matchsticks rockets.  I think the amazing agile magic of ALF extraordinaire @ryanshollenberger was a central element in our success. The experience was also a great opportunity to introduce kids to Edison’s process of creating the light bulb: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Below you will find the videos of our two successful flights. Pay close attention to Ryan’s face as the rockets take off.  🙂
